May 3, 2009

Takashi Murakami was born in 1963 in Tokyo. He is a Cartoon painter,  a Quasi, a Minimalist and he also makes sculptures. He took his BFA, MFA and PhD in the Tokyo National University of Arts and Music. He has made a lot of gallery shows and he exhibited his work all around the world in very well known museums, some of them are in Tokyo and the  Metropolitan museum of Art and the Fine Arts in Boston. Finally, he took his doctorate in Nihonga. He is a mixture of Western and Eastern styles dating back to the 19th century.  Murakami is passionate with Otako culture because he believes it  represents modern Japanese life. His first style was Poku something that represents him like person because Poku and Otako culture according to his beliefs might create a new culture. I like the style o Takashi Murakami because he uses a lot of colors and happy manga and anime faces, flowers but strange shapes as well. I also like him because he is not only drawing but he designs  T-shirts, books, sculptures and more. His style has a great effect upon me due to his strange characters and stories.
